On Thursday, November 6, 2025, HWA International School hosted its International Day celebration, which highlighted cultures from around the world. In line with the IB Learner Profile of open-mindedness, students explored and appreciated different cultures through food, music, costumes, decorations, and interactive activities.
Each classroom represented a different country, giving students and visitors the opportunity to experience various traditions. This year’s featured countries were Italy, Mexico, India (Deepavali), Puerto Rico, Scotland, Indonesia, South Africa, and Japan. Students moved between the classrooms, sampling international dishes, taking part in cultural activities, and exchanging small souvenirs.
The celebration concluded with student reflections and a vote for Best Dressed and Best Classroom Presentation to recognize creativity, collaboration, and cultural understanding. This hands-on experience helped students develop a deeper appreciation of cultural diversity and a stronger sense of the global community.
International Day reflects HWA’s commitment to the IB philosophy of encouraging curiosity, empathy, and open-mindedness. By engaging with a range of cultures, students practice considering multiple perspectives and developing respect for different ways of life. Activities like these extend learning beyond the classroom and help students become globally aware individuals.
