Recently, HWA International School was pleased to host an educational sharing session with
representatives from Primakov School from Russia. The meeting offered a meaningful platform
for both institutions to exchange insights, explore curriculum structures, and discuss how we
support students in their academic and personal journeys.
During the session, educators from both schools engaged in insightful discussions surrounding
institutional governance and curriculum design. HWA shared details of its continuous K–12
International Baccalaureate (IB) bilingual curriculum structure, spanning the Primary Years
Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP). In turn,
representatives from Primakov School offered valuable perspectives on their K–12 educational
model in Moscow and overseas, highlighting their bilingual instruction approach in subjects such
as Geography and Literature.
The conversation also extended to Singapore’s academic ecosystem and regulatory standards.
The delegation reviewed key compliance guidelines, noting the importance of meeting
requirements such as the 90% minimum attendance rate for Student Pass holders, backed by
valid documentation. Beyond the regulatory aspects, participants discussed how international
students adjust to daily life in Singapore, learning to navigate public transportation systems (Bus
and MRT) to build confidence and personal independence.
Pastoral care and student guidance were another central focus of the visit. Both institutions
shared their approaches to student counseling and behavioral support, emphasizing the value
of structured mentorship and guidance in helping students navigate academic challenges and
personal growth.
The session provided a warm and constructive space to exchange institutional knowledge, learn
about bilingual education across different cultures, and build stronger connections between our
communities. We cherish these opportunities for shared learning and look forward to further
educational exchanges in the future.
