HWA International School continues to champion international-minded learning by actively engaging with educators from around the world. Earlier this week, our campus became a vibrant space of dialogue as we welcomed a distinguished delegation of teachers from the New Oriental Education Group (China) for an enriching session of professional exchange and cross-cultural learning, particularly in relation to the philosophy and implementation of the IB framework.
The visit began with an edutalk delivered by Principal Mr. Shi Mingpei, who offered an insightful overview of the IB education at HWA to highlight its core principles – inquiry-led learning, international-mindedness, interdisciplinary thinking and a unique learner-centered philosophy. Mr. Shi also shared perspectives on the Singapore education landscape, giving visitors a broader context of how HWA integrates IB values with Singapore’s strong educational culture.
Following the discussion, the delegation joined a guided 20-minute tour around the HWA campus. They had the opportunity to see how learning spaces are purposefully designed to support student development and independent exploration. The visit allowed them to experience firsthand how HWA nurtures a warm, student-centred environment rooted in respect, diversity, and global-mindedness.
The New Oriental educators expressed appreciation for the open exchange and the opportunity to better understand the distinctive strengths of the IB approach as practiced at HWA. The visit reaffirmed the shared belief that education is not simply the transfer of knowledge but a powerful bridge for connecting cultures, expanding perspectives, and preparing students to thrive in an interconnected world.
This engagement reaffirms HWA International School’s enduring commitment to IB excellence, cultural understanding, and global-minded education. By fostering open dialogue with international educators, we continue to build a learning community where ideas flow freely, perspectives expand, and students are empowered to become compassionate global citizens.
