Fostering a Culture of Green Initiatives: HWA ‘s Commitment to Sustainability

Recently, HWA was selected as one of the sustainable, eco-friendly international schools in Singapore by the well-known family platform, Honeykids. This further confirms HWA’s efforts and achievements in green environmental protection and sustainable development.

As a school that emphasizes environmental conservation, we have been committed to cultivating students’ awareness of sustainable development and encouraging them to become advocates and practitioners of environmental protection. To this end, we have actively organized a series of inspiring activities aimed at enhancing students’ understanding of green environmental protection and promoting sustainable development.

Last week, our school organized an exciting student visit, taking students to the Sustainable Singapore Gallery in Singapore. This gallery showcases the concept and innovative practices of sustainable development through interactive exhibitions and multimedia displays. During the visit, students gained in-depth insights into the vital concepts of urban sustainable development and learned how to strike a balance between prosperity and environmental protection. The visit sparked students’ concern for environmental issues and made them realize their significant role in promoting environmental sustainability.

In addition to the student visit, our school encourages students to engage in research and presentations related to our shared planet. By conducting in-depth research on topics related to environmental issues, climate change, and sustainable development, students demonstrate their concern and understanding of these issues. Their presentations not only propose practical solutions but also inspire other students’ interest in environmental actions. This culture of knowledge sharing has been promoted within our school, further strengthening the cultivation of environmental awareness.

Furthermore, our school actively organized an internal material donation campaign aimed at reducing waste and promoting the recycling of resources. We encourage students and teachers to donate unused books, clothing, and other recyclable items. The purpose of this campaign is to minimize waste generation and advocate for sustainable consumption and resource recycling. Through this activity, we not only put the principles of green environmental protection into action but also provide more people with opportunities to access resources.

We believe that everyone can contribute to green environmental protection. Our school will continue to encourage and support students and teachers in innovative and sustainable actions, making positive contributions to our community and the future of the world.
